When a potential client comes to me needing a logo I like to sit down with them and talk about what they are looking for and learn about the details of their project. Understanding the full scope of their project helps me by providing some insight about them and what they like. Usually artistic ideas begin to form during the conversation and I'm able to ask questions about colors, shapes, icons and symbol meanings that helps us reach deeper and bring their ideas to life. Then its off to drawing board as the expression goes. Sometimes its literally pen on paper to get some ideas down, and then I jump into Adobe Illustrator to work with the text and imagery to fit their needs. I usually start with black only for a little while until ideas begin to take shape before I bring in any color.
